Emergence definition

Fingernails emerge as the hard, flat, keratin-based coverings that form on the upper surface of fingers, which are slender jointed digits of the hand, as a result of the skin's specialized growth and adaptation to the finger's unique structure, allowing for a protective and functional extension of the body's outer layer.
