Uganda has begun withdrawing its military forces from Somalia after nearly two decades of deployment, per hiiraan.com. The move marks a significant shift in East African regional security dynamics.

The withdrawal follows growing rifts within the Ugandan government regarding the prolonged military engagement, which theeeastafrican.co.ke reports has strained diplomatic relations with local factions and undermined the effectiveness of the mission.

This decision comes amid rising domestic inflation in Uganda, as Reuters notes, with the country's currency experiencing its steepest decline in three years. The economic challenges may limit future military commitments abroad.

The shift in policy underscores broader implications for Somalia’s security architecture, according to ftlsomalia.com, suggesting that regional stability may be further destabilized by this withdrawal.
