Police in Bharatpur have arrested several journalists for reporting on alleged links between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and a middleman, per nepalipatro.com.np.

The arrests come amid heightened scrutiny over transparency in law enforcement, with authorities claiming the reports were false and damaging to ongoing investigations.

Local media outlets have expressed concern over press freedom, as this follows a pattern of targeting journalists covering sensitive government figures in recent months, according to english.ratopati.com.
