Ukrainian refugees flee Russian-held town
Tearful family members reunited on Réunion island as starving Ukrainian refugees escaped a Russian-held town, per the Independent.
The humanitarian crisis has prompted international attention, as aid efforts are being coordinated by local authorities and NGOs, the newspaper notes.
Réunion's strategic location in the Indian Ocean makes it a potential transit point for more evacuees from conflict zones, according to regional analysts.
