Uganda's inflation has risen to a three-year high, driven by currency devaluation, Reuters reports. The central bank is grappling with mounting pressure as the local shilling loses value against global currencies.

The Bank of Uganda raised its main interest rate in an effort to stabilize the economy, Bloomberg notes. This move aims to curb further currency slide and reduce inflationary pressures in the country's financial system.

In a related development, Kampala's financial sector is showing signs of strain amid the broader macroeconomic challenges. The city's business community is bracing for more volatility as policymakers attempt to regain control over the economy.

The situation has implications beyond Uganda's borders, as regional markets are closely watching the country's monetary response to inflation and currency instability.
