Iceland is running a national crisis exercise simulating a collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), per Gizmodo. The drill involves multiple government agencies and focuses on potential impacts on weather patterns, marine ecosystems, and coastal infrastructure.

The exercise comes amid growing scientific concerns about AMOC weakening due to climate change, with experts warning of cascading effects across the North Atlantic region, including Iceland's own weather and ocean currents, according to the same report.

Meanwhile, Iceland Airwaves festival has added new events including airport concerts and record-store shows, with President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson attending the opening ceremony, Bloomberg reports. The festival is a major cultural event in Reykjavík, featuring local and international artists.
