Measles Outbreak Rises in Belize
Belize has recorded 19 measles cases so far this year, per Jamaica Gleaner. The cases are concentrated in the capital Belmopan and surrounding areas.
Health officials are urging residents to get vaccinated as the outbreak continues to spread through communities, especially among unvaccinated children, Reuters reports.
Meanwhile, the government is under pressure to address crime following a controversial mediation meeting with gang leaders, Breaking Belize News notes. The minister insisted no payments would be made to gang members.
