Welcome to a world where anything is possible.

When Sosuke, a young boy who lives on a clifftop overlooking the sea, rescues a stranded goldfish named Ponyo, he discovers more than he bargained for. Ponyo is a curious, energetic young creature who yearns to be human, but even as she causes chaos around the house, her father, a powerful sorcerer, schemes to return Ponyo to the sea.
In Ponyo, consciousness is carried by animals — a plane of “magical ocean town”. The story fights on E7/E8 of the E0–E14 reality ladder, compressing nature, magic, love, identity, environment.
Films fighting at the same level of reality, about the same things.
The same preoccupations examined at another scale — one mind versus a nation.
Other films that move a human interior onto the same kind of thing.
