What is a ghost?

Spain, 1939. In the last days of the Spanish Civil War, the young Carlos arrives at the Santa Lucía orphanage, where he will make friends and enemies as he follows the quiet footsteps of a mysterious presence eager for revenge.
In The Devil's Backbone, consciousness is carried by the dead — a plane of “haunted orphanage”. The story fights on E8/E9 of the E0–E14 reality ladder, compressing war, ghost, memory, trauma, authority.
Films fighting at the same level of reality, about the same things.
The same preoccupations examined at another scale — one mind versus a nation.
